Signata Buy — $19.99

Terms

Terms and License

These are the terms for buying Signata and for using it. They are written to be read: short sections, plain sentences, and nothing in them that another page on this site contradicts.

Effective 7 August 2026 · StacknScope Inc.

The whole thing, in six lines

  • Signata is free for 14 days. No account, no email address, no payment details.
  • US$19.99 buys a license that does not expire, issued to the address you buy with.
  • Nothing counts your Macs, because nothing checks: the license is verified offline, on the machine.
  • Updates released in the year after you buy are included; after that year, the version you have installed keeps working.
  • If Signata doesn't do what this site says it does, write within 30 days of purchase and you get your money back — no form, no justification.
  • Signata records what happened. It does not prevent anything, and nothing below promises that it will.

1. Who you are contracting with

Signata is published by StacknScope Inc. ("StacknScope", "we", "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and StacknScope covering your use of Signata and any license bought from signata.app. The Privacy Policy and the refund policy on the Support page form part of them.

Payment is taken by Stripe on our behalf. Card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and never reach signata.app. Stripe collects a billing address and calculates any sales tax or VAT from it, so the total you are shown at checkout may be more than the US$19.99 price. Stripe's terms govern that part of the transaction; nothing here replaces them.

2. The trial

Signata is free to use for 14 days from first launch. It asks for no account, no email address and no payment details — there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to cancel, and no reduced trial edition: everything Signata does is available during those 14 days.

When the trial ends, Signata stops recording new events until it has a license. It does not lock, hide or delete what it already recorded — the timeline, exporting, and chain verification keep working on your existing log.

The date your trial started is kept on your own Mac, in the macOS Keychain — beside the license rather than in the app's own data, so that reinstalling Signata does not hand you a second trial by accident. Deleting Signata and its data does not restart the trial. Clearing that Keychain entry would.

We would rather write that down than fight anyone over it. Closing the gap properly would take an account, a server, or a device fingerprint, and Signata is built on having none of the three — and a product whose argument is tamper-evidence has no business being coy about its own mechanics.

3. The license

Buying Signata gets you a license — a short signed token — emailed to the address you gave Stripe. Subject to these terms, it grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Signata, and it does not expire.

The license names your email address, and that is the whole of the enforcement. It is not seat-limited: nothing counts activations, nothing registers a Mac anywhere, and no server is ever asked whether you may run it. Signata verifies the signature on your own machine, offline. Install it on the Macs you use.

What is asked in return is the part that trust actually rests on: don't publish it, don't sell it, and don't hand it to strangers. We have no way to switch a license off after the fact — that is the cost of licensing that works without a server, and we would rather pay it than build the server. So this is a request, backed by one fact: a license carries the address it was issued to, inside it, so a copy that turns up in public is traceable to whoever released it.

You may not remove or work around the signature checking, except where a law that cannot be waived by agreement says such a restriction may not be imposed.

4. Updates

Every Signata update released in the year following your purchase is included at no further cost. Your license carries that date.

After the year, Signata does not expire, degrade or nag. The version you have installed goes on working, licensed, indefinitely, and nothing in Signata today enforces that date. If a future release ever asks for a renewal to install it, that will be stated plainly before you install anything, and it will not reach back and disable the version you are already running.

We may change, add or remove features in an update, and we do not promise that any particular feature remains available forever. We may discontinue Signata. If we do, licenses already issued keep working on the versions they were issued for.

5. Refunds

The policy is the one published on the Support page, and it is this: if Signata doesn't do what this site says it does, write within 30 days of purchase and you'll get your money back. No form, no justification required. Write to support@stacknscope.com. The refund goes back through Stripe to the payment method you used.

Because a license cannot be switched off remotely, the other half of a refund runs on trust too: when we refund you, stop using Signata and delete the license.

6. What Signata does, and what it does not

This section exists because the rest of this site takes the same trouble, and terms that quietly widened the claim would be the one place the argument broke.

  • Signata records physical events that macOS reports while Signata is running. It does not prevent physical access, and it cannot lock, erase, locate or recover a Mac.
  • It records nothing while the Mac is asleep, it cannot see failed unlock attempts, and removing the drive defeats it entirely. The Limits section lists these in full and is part of what this site says Signata does.
  • Hash chaining makes altering the history detectable. It does not make it impossible, and it does not protect the newest entry, which has nothing linked to it yet.
  • We make no representation that a Signata log, an alert, or a captured image will be accepted as evidence by any court, insurer, employer, platform or investigator, or that it will support any particular conclusion. It is a record kept by software running on your own machine, and it should be relied on as one.

Read the limits before you buy. Thirty days is our answer if we turn out to have been wrong about something; it is a poor substitute for knowing what you are getting.

7. No warranty

Signata is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment and non-infringement.

In particular, we do not warrant that Signata will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free; that it will detect or record any particular event; that an alert will be delivered, or delivered in time; that captured evidence will be present, legible or usable; or that defects will be corrected.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StacknScope will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to Signata or these terms, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability or any other theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Signata or these terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid us for Signata in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) five United States dollars (USD 5.00).

This includes, without limitation, any claim arising from an event Signata did not record, an alert that did not arrive, evidence that was not captured, or a conclusion drawn from a log.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless StacknScope and its officers, employees and contractors from any claim, liability, damage, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use or misuse of Signata, your breach of these terms or of any applicable law, or your infringement of any right of a third party. This section survives termination of these terms and of your license.

10. Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

If you are a consumer, you may have rights under the consumer law of your country that these terms cannot override. Those rights apply in addition to everything above, and where a provision here conflicts with a protection you are entitled to, that protection prevails to the extent of the conflict and the rest of these terms continues to apply.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and the change is published here. Changes are not retroactive: the version in force when you bought a license governs that purchase, except where a change is required by law.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict of law rules. The courts of Ontario have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings there where that law entitles you to.

13. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, it is to be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if it cannot be, and the remaining provisions continue in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

These terms, the Privacy Policy, and the refund policy on the Support page are the whole of the agreement between you and StacknScope regarding Signata.
